In the video below, I narrate three stories of what happened here in 1746, around the time of the Battle of Culloden. The events took place in the house, in the adjoining church ruins, and also in the nearby Highland village.
I noticed while taking the film, that there were what looked like many shadowy figures passing in both directions on my screen, especially in the latter part of the film. You can see them clearly in the video below.
This quiet and sacred part of the Highlands is very special to me. The countryside is steeped in history at every turn.
I cannot drive down these roads now without being fully aware of the numerous events that took place around here in 1746. This is only one of those stories, but there are over 50 more that I know of, all of which are now deeply ingrained in my mind. It has changed how I experience this area significantly.
This is on a very narrow single-track road and it is a private home. This is why I could only film the house and church ruins from the public road. As it is a private home, we won’t be sharing the location. We trust you understand and can enjoy the video for the historic content.

Visited this area in 2019. It seemed eerie as we moved along in various war areas. As an American, this area seemed as ghostly as our Gettysburg Civil War acres.
I was surprised to find s-781 + and – in my DNA test.this and many names make the royal Stewart’s my cousins.i had heard this but this is solid proof.many of the jacobite nobility names are also in my family.
